OUR HISTORY

The Asociación Pro-Búsqueda for Missing Children (APB) is a non-profit organization that was born from the struggle of mothers, fathers and relatives to find their missing children during the Salvadoran civil war and that, in accompaniment of Father Jon Cortina began their tireless search. In this sense, Pro-Búsqueda promotes the investigation of cases of forced disappearance of minors during the civil war to establish their whereabouts, to know the truth of the facts and to be able to compensate for the damage that the victims suffered as a result of these serious violations of their rights.

The genetic research work and the processes of individual and collective support for victims and their families are some of the pillars of the work carried out by the organization. In the same way, Pro-Búsqueda seeks to influence Salvadoran society and International Organizations through its work and the development of activities related to historical memory, including in its work the new generations of youth defenders of human rights.

469

SOLVED

CASES

AND THERE IS STILL A LONG WAY TO GO

The current work of Asociación Pro-Búsqueda is focused on resolving the cases under management, which to date total 577.
We owe the result to hard work and to the commitment of our team and our collaborators.

DISTRIBUTION OF SOLVED CASES

There are 290 families reunited out of the total of 469 cases resolved. 90 and 89 cases are divided between localized and localized deceased.
As an organization we are very happy to know that we have been part of the joy of many families who have managed to close that important circle of life by reuniting with a missing relative.
