This past August, Pro-Búsqueda commemorated with hope and determination
31 years of supporting families who faced forced separation from their children
during the Civil war in El Salvador.
For more than three decades, organized families from all over the country have
waged a tireless struggle against neglection, indifference, and impunity. They
have raised their voices on behalf of thousands of missing children, and with
their resistance, they have left an indelible mark on the history of our country.
Throughout this journey, Pro-Búsqueda has overcome moments of pain and
discrediting of its work. However, the families; conviction has kept hope alive,
achieving reunions, truth, and steps toward justice that restore dignity to the
victims.
Today, 31 years after its founding, Pro-Búsqueda reaffirms:
That it will continue to investigate and document the events of the past,
honoring the voices of the victims in the face of all attempts at denial.
That will continue to demand the opening of archives and access to withheld
information, essential to clarifying the truth.
That it will maintain its commitment to the families who are still searching, and
to the people who wish to recover the identity stolen in their childhood.
That it will not renounce justice as an inalienable right of the victims and as a
pillar for building a more humane society.
That will persist in denouncing impunity and demanding compliance with
national and international standards against enforced disappearances.
Because the truth never expires, because justice never expires, and because
love and hope are stronger than silence, Pro-Búsqueda reaffirms its mission:
“We will continue searching for you, until we find you.”
